Services for James N. Lewis, 80, of Tyler, are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Thursday, April 14, 2005, at Green Acres Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Dr. Darryl Dunks, Dr. David Dykes, and Rev. Ron Wells officiating.
Burial will be in Williams Cemetery under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Lewis passed away Monday, April 11, 2005 at Hospice HomePlace.
He was born to James R. and Ethel Lawrence Lewis on December 11, 1924 in Mineral Wells.
Mr. Lewis lived in Tyler for 50 years. He was a teacher at Tyler Junior College for many years. He was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church where he was a deacon, member of the J. Childs Sunday School Class and a charter member of the Green Acres Highest Praise Choir. Mr. Lewis was also active in prison ministry.
Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his first wife, Annah Lou Lewis, in 1987 and a sister, Winona Stoltzfus, in 2004.
Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Barbara Lewis of Tyler; daughters, Debbie Pace and husband, Scott, Pam Gregory and husband, Mike, Rea King and husband, Jerry; son, Jim Lewis, Jr. and wife, Angie; step-sons, Tim Brittain and wife, Brenda, Mark Brittain and wife, Charlene, and Doug Brittain; eleven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Dr. E. H. Lewis and wife, Nancy; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Job King, Chris Pace, Matt Pace, Charles Lewis, Kent Gregory, Tim Brittain, Mark Brittain, and Doug Brittain.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy., south Tyler, 75703.
