Curtis Rice

Services for Curtis Neal Rice, 48, of Whitehouse, will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2010, at 1:30 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Littlefield officiating. Burial will follow at Post Oak Cemetery in Malakoff under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Rice passed away December 2, 2010 at his residence. Curtis was born into a military family on December 14, 1961 in Bitzberg, Germany to Charles and Doshie Mae Weatherby Rice. Curtis grew up and attended Jasper schools. He later started working for the Texas Department of Transportation and moved to Houston. Curtis then moved to Whitehouse in 2000. He was a family man who loved his children and inspired them in all of their endeavors. He enjoyed spending his time with them helping them to build their lifelong skills. Over the past eight years, Curtis worked in the oil fields as a machinist and was known as a man with an exemplary work ethic. He was always putting others’ needs and wants before his and he treated his wife with great admiration and loved beyond none. Curtis loved fishing, cooking for his family and making special meals for his wife. Special in his heart was his grandson Fisher, who because of his special needs was showered with love and affection. His love for his country and the military inspired his son Nathan, to join the military. Curtis will be greatly missed and remembered with honor and love. Curtis was preceded in death by his father, and brother David Rice. He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 11 years, Teresa Rice of Whitehouse; children, Marcus Rice of Tyler, Jamie Rice of Honey Island, 2nd Lt. Nathan Dumas and wife Stacey of Whitehouse, stationed in Mannheim, Germany, and Crystal Anne Casey and husband Brian of Oxford, AL.; mother, Doshie Mae Rice of Tyler; mother-in-law, Margy Jeter of Ocklawha, FL.; siblings, Harold Sherrol of Lumberton, Larry Rice of Tulsa, OK., and Randy Rice of Tyler; and grandson, Fisher Michael Casey of Oxford, AL. Visitation is scheduled from 6:00 – 7:30 PM on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy., Tyler, Texas 75703.
