Obituary for Ellen Guthrie Services for Ellen Guthrie, age 57 of Tyler, Texas will be held at 1:00 on Wednesday January 21, 2015 at Christ Central Church of God in Lindale, Texas with Pastor James Dill officiating. Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. The love of my life and best friend passed away on January 15, 2015 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Ellen was born on September 17, 1957 in Dilley, Texas to Paul and Polly Burch of Overton, Texas. Ellen was a member of Christ Central Church of God in Lindale, Texas. Ellen was a past President of the Smith County Republican Women and a past Committee Woman for the Republican Party, State of Texas Senate District Two. A graduate of Overton High School and Kilgore Junior College Ellen held an Insurance License, representing AFLAC for many years. Ellen was an avid lover of sports and competed for the Overton Golf Team at the State Tournament. Ellen’s primary focus in life was the Lord Jesus Christ, her husband Scott, her family and friends. Ellen was preceded in death by her father Paul Burch, her Mother-in-Law Shirley Guthrie and her nephew Cameron English. Ellen is survived by her husband of twenty years Scott Guthrie of Tyler; Mother Polly Burch of Tyler; sister Gay Tyra of Tyler; brother Paul Burch and wife Shelly of Fort Worth; niece Sage Ervin of Tyler; Father-in-Law Glenn Guthrie of Tyler and his wife Elizabeth Guthrie; Brother-in-Law Grant Guthrie of Austin and his fiancée Karen Urbanek; mentor and special friend Bob McNutt of Gilmer and numerous other nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Paul Burch, Zachary English, Chris Ervin, Grant Guthrie, Jim Wheatley and Michael Rushing. Honorary Pallbearers will be the men and women of Christ Central Church; the men and women of AFLAC in Texas, Arkansas and Virginia; Dr. Duane Andrews and the Doctors and Nurses of the Oncology Unit of Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler, Texas and Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Visitation is scheduled from 5:00-7:00 on Tuesday January 20 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler.
