Eric Ontiveroz

Eric Ontiveroz aka “Beaner” passed away on June 27, 2024, at the age of 46, in Tyler, Texas, surrounded by his loved ones. His battle of serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite all the pain, Eric stayed strong until the end. He was born February 16, 1978, in Lubbock, Texas to Tomas Tristan Ontiveroz and Esmeralda Gomez Ontiveroz. After graduating high school from Palestine Westwood, Eric moved to Tyler to attend Tyler Junior College and received his Associate’s Degree. He was employed by Walmart. Eric loved spending time with his friends whether it was shooting pool, golfing, playing fantasy football, or eating some good and spicy crawfish. He enjoyed his time with his family celebrating birthdays, graduations, holidays, weekend dinners and watching the Dallas Cowboys and college football. Although Eric didn’t have any children of his own, he loved and was so proud of his niece, Sydney, as if she was his own. He even turned his loyalty of burnt orange to Crimson and Cream when she attended the University of Oklahoma. Eric looked forward to the times he got to babysit his fur nephew and niece, Jake and Lucy. He cherished every moment with them all. He had an uncanny ability to make others feel loved by his smile, hugs, silliness, and kindness and he will be missed by all who knew him. Eric is survived by his mother, Esmeralda Ontiveroz of Tyler; his sister, Yvette Brunette and her husband Hardy of Tyler; a loving niece, Sydney Brunette of Dallas; and many, many, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Eric was predeceased by his father, Tomas Tristan Ontiveroz, paternal and maternal grandparents, uncles, aunt, and a cousin. Family, friends, and others whose lives Eric touched are invited to a Rosary followed by a visitation that is scheduled from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler. A Requiem Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with the Very Reverend Hank Lanik officiating. Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society (https://donate.cancer.org) or the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of Tyler (https://thecathedral.info) in his memory. Eric’s light will forever shine in our hearts, and his legacy of love, laughter, and his smile will continue to inspire us all.
