Jamie Boring

William James Boring, beloved husband, father, granddaddy, mentor and friend, passed away April 5, 2019 and transitioned immediately from this life into the heavenly presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jamie was born October 4, 1929 in Tyler, Texas. He was a lifelong Tyler resident. Jamie was a graduate of Tyler High School and North Texas University with a master’s degree in accounting. Jamie enlisted in the Marine Corps at the end of World War II where he was trained as an Intelligence Officer specializing in High Speed Intercept Cryptography. He also served in the Air Force and the Army training officers in this field. Jamie had “eyes only” security clearance. After his military career ended, Jamie moved back home to Tyler. After owning Tyler Employment Agency and serving as Sales Manager of Western Foundry, Jamie became a Realtor and Real Estate developer. Real Estate was his passion and he was a wealth of information on Smith County property especially farm and ranch property. Jamie was Chairman of the Smith County Appraisal and Review Board from 1982 – 1990. He also served on the Ethics Committee of the Tyler Board of Realtors. Jamie was also on the TXDOT Right of Way Board from 1991 – 2007. Jamie was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and attended Bible Study Fellowship. He also attended his Tuesday Morning Bible Study for 40 years with his lifelong friends. Jamie married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Joan Vanderpool, April 19, 1968. They were married 38 years until her death in 2006. Jamie loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was very loved and will be greatly missed for his godly wisdom and caring spirit. Jamie was preceded in death by his parents, Annie Mae and Fletcher Boring; his wife, Joan Vanderpool Boring; his sister, Nancy Boring Roberts; and brother, Gary David Boring. He is survived by daughters, Nancy Harvey Blomdahl and husband Bill; and Elizabeth Harvey Clyde and son, John Harvey. He was a beloved Granddaddy to his grandchildren Elizabeth Blomdahl Spivey and husband Dalton, Amanda Blomdahl Weathers and husband Shane, as well as, Sarah Clyde, Cal Clyde, Rachel Clyde, Jamie Clyde and Bryce Harvey. Jamie was also loved dearly by his great- grandchildren Brooklynn, Blake and William Weathers. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Mike Jackson and Cindy Siler for their loyal service and care for Jamie. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Stewart Funeral Home. A memorial service to celebrate Jamie’s life will be held Thursday, April 18th, 1:30 p.m., at Green Acres Baptist Church Chapel. “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21.
