Rolan Parnell

Services for Rolan Dean Parnell, 68 of Flint, Texas, will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at 2:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Art Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler, Texas under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Parnell passed away Sunday, September 3, 2006 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. He was born June 3, 1938 in Tyler, Texas to Lee Dawson and Erma Bridges Parnell. Dean was a life long resident of Tyler. Following his graduation from Tyler High School, Dean joined the United States Air Force in 1956, and while serving his country overseas, he met and married Sue Hedwig Trynka in Darmstadt, Germany in 1959. Dean was an active member and elder of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and was a former member of the Tyler Jaycees. Dean was employed by Red Ball Motor Freight for 16 years, and was a truck driver for Curtis Mathis, and for Crete Carrier Corp., where he retired in 2000. Dean enjoyed watching birds, wood working, history, gardening, and was an avid reader. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and was considered the family advisor. Mr. Parnell was preceded in death by his father Lee Dawson Parnell and his nephew Craig Lee Parnell. Mr. Parnell is survived by his loving family including his wife of 47 years Sue Hedwig Parnell of Tyler; daughter, Crystal Elizabeth Parnell of Spring, TX; Grandchildren, Amanda, Emily, and Angela Manasco; his mother, Erma Parnell of Tyler; brother, Steve Parnell and wife Deborah of Tyler; nieces, Teri Kay Hagedorn, Gisela Roehm, Sylvia Croulet; nephews, Robert Parnell and Gerhard Graf; and sister in law Elisabeth Graf of Darmstadt, Germany. Pallbearers will be Robert Parnell, Pete Sukiennik, Tommy Sukiennik, Mark Sukiennik, Tommy Ray Sukiennik, and Chris Sukiennik. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Elders of Trinity Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy., Tyler, Texas 75703.
