Alma "Lynne" Justice

Alma A. “Lynne” Justice was called home by her heavenly father on May 11, 2026. Lynne was born April 4, 1927, the daughter of Deets D. and Nell Arceneaux. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 67 years, John H. Justice, her daughter Karen Justice, brothers Robert, Jean, Donald and Reginald Arceneaus as well as sisters Beverly Schorling and Nell Vance. Lynne was born and raised in Natchez, Mississippi. Shortly after her 18th birthday and the end of World War Two in 1945, a sense of adventure and independence motivated Lynne to move from her home in Mississippi to Dallas, Texas. There, on a double blind date, she met her future husband and love of her life, John H. Justice. The two were married in Dallas on February 8, 1947, and spent three years there before moving to Tyler, Texas, where they raised their children, Karen and Deets. The couple remained in Tyler where each, in their own way, became fixtures in the community developing deep and long lasting friendships that continued throughout their lifetime. Lyne was a long time member of the Seekers Class at Glenwood Methodist Church. She was also an active participant in many local volunteer activities, beginning when each of her children volunteered her for home room mother the entirety of their attendance at Andy Woods Elementary School. She served on the Board of the Smith County Humane Society and for many years, was a volunteer at Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler. In her later years, she discovered and fell in love with the game of golf and spent as much time as possible golfing at The Cascades Club and other golf courses across East Texas. Ballroom dancing was another favorite pastime. Lynne and John spent many wonderful evenings dancing at Sal’s Dance Club, The Venetian Ball Room Club, and the Crystal Ballroom Club. Lynne was a “people person” and never met a stranger. When asked the secret of her longevity, she replied “be nice to people”. Lynne lived by that guidance. She was a giving, caring person yet resilient and determined. A devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother as well as a beloved friend to so many people. Lynne will be missed by all who knew her and forever loved by family and friends. Lynne is survived by her son Deets D. Justice and wife Janet as well as grandsons Spencer, Trenton, and Forrest Justice, granddaughter Carolyn Justice and numerous nieces and nephews. A service will be conducted at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Steve Turrentine officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
