Ann Brown Vickery

Graveside services for Ann Brown Vickery, 87, of San Antonio, will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Noonday Cemetery with Rev. Park Robertson officiating under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Ann passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024 in Seguin. She was born June 6, 1936 in Smith County, Texas to Marvin Brown Sr. and Tommie Wilson Brown. Ann was devoted to Christ and her family and was active at Wayside Chapel in San Antonio where she especially cherished her friendships with the Sisters of Strength ministry. She graduated from John Tyler High School and attended business school in Tyler. She moved to San Antonio in the early 60’s with her husband, Gene Vickery, where they started their family. She held several administrative assistant roles and served much of her working life as the Principal’s Secretary at Ed White Middle School in the Northeast Independent School District. She also enjoyed part-time retail sales work at Foley’s Department Store. She leaves a legacy of devotion to Christ, resilience, and perseverance. Ann enjoyed cooking and especially preparing holiday meals which the family always looked forward to, listening to gospel music and playing the piano. She loved the outdoors, camping, hiking and spent several summers after retiring to work and play in Yellowstone National Park at the Fishing Bridge camp general store. Her favorite place on God’s earth was Hayden Valley in Yellowstone. The family would like to thank the healthcare professionals in the San Antonio, New Braunfels, and Seguin area for their gracious care. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Freeman Brown, Sr. and Tommie Wilson Brown, her sisters: Fae Brown, Doris Brown Bowles, Lois Brown, Mary Brown Miles and Florence Brown Neeley, her brothers: Marvin Freeman Brown, Jr., Douglas Brown, and Robert Brown. She is survived by her loving family including sister, Jean Brown Dailey & husband, Parker of Belton, MO, son, Jeff Vickery, daughter-in-law, Suzanne Vickery, only grandchild, Sydney Ann Vickery, stepson, Mark Vickery, and many nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers include Shane Colston, Denna Mangold, Danny Neeley, Debbie and Paul Oldham, and Jeff and Mark Vickery.
