Anna Lorraine Henderson

Anna Loraine Henderson, 94, of Marshall passed away Monday, April 6th, 2015 in Tyler, Texas. Anna was born on May 26, 1920 to Ruben and Grace Finch of Cambridge, Nebraska. Anna attended a private college in Crete, NE as well as Doane College and the University of Wyoming in Laramie, WY where she received a BA in Education. While at the University of Wyoming, Anna met and married Robert Lafayette Henderson Jr. on March 3, 1943 in Roswell, New Mexico. They lived together ranching in Wyoming and Montana. They later moved to Georgia and Texas. Together they had eight children whom they adored. Anna was active in the Methodist Church, Jobs Daughters, and Eastern Stars. She sang in the choir at First United Methodist Church in Marshall until she was 93 years old. Anna enjoyed drawing, needle work, horseback riding and even enjoyed riding the tube and jet ski’s late into her life. She was also an extraordinary seamstress. Her biggest wish was to go skydiving and her most loved hobby was spending time with her family. Anna is survived by her eight children; Robert Henderson and his wife Ginger of Clarksville, IN, Jill Lane- Mach and her husband Joe of Chicago, IL, Jana Overbeek and her husband Lee of Chandler, TX, JoDee Henderson of Orange, CA, Jena (Sissy) Laird and her husband Neal of Marshall, TX, Ruben Henderson and his wife Raquel of Houston, TX, Randall (Chip) Henderson of Houston, TX, and Jon Henderson of Mobile, AL. She also has 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren with whom she absolutely loved. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Henderson, parents Ruben and Grace Finch, her brother Merlin Finch and her grandson Shaun Lane. Anna was greatly loved and appreciated by her family and will be missed. Her smile, her laugh, her zest for adventure and life, her humorous nativity, her quirky little antidotes and sayings, her unconditional love and devotion and all that she gave to her family will always be remembered. A memorial will be held at First United Methodist Church in Marshall, TX on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at the 9am service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Anna’s honor to The American Cancer Society for Cancer Research.
