Barbara Ruth Foster Lavender

Barbara Ruth Foster Lavender, 82, most recently of Tyler, Texas passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022 from natural causes. Barbara was born in Howe, Texas to Maury and Dorris Foster. The family moved to Dallas, Texas where she graduated from South Oak Cliff High in 1958. She and her family moved to Hurst, Texas in 1963 where she was active in her church. She started working at American Airlines in 1979, and retired in 2001. While at American Airlines, she enjoyed traveling for her job all over the world and met many interesting people along the way. She was able to experience all types of gourmet dining in the countries she visited, but naturally preferred Tex-Mex chips and salsa, with a side of nachos. In 2011, Barbara moved to East Texas. As a natural red-head, she had a strong and boisterous personality, along with a witty sense of humor that naturally drew people to her. People loved to hear stories of her travel and life experiences. She made many dear friends throughout her life that meant the world to her. Barbara loved to listen to Southern Gospel music. Her favorite group was Greater Vision. She loved to sing and harmonize with others. One of her recent highlights was when she and her daughter went to Pigeon Forge, TN for her 80th birthday to go to Dollywood and attend the National Quartet Convention. In retirement, she enjoyed gardening, shopping at TJ Maxx and Home Goods, and watching Hallmark movies. Barbara loved life, she loved her family and friends, and she adored her rescue dogs. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family and close friends. She will be missed greatly and will be remembered by many. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Maury and Dorris Foster; dogs, Kali and Scout. She is survived by her daughter, Amber Lavender McCoy and her husband Joseph of Portland, OR; sister, Linda Wagner and her husband David; aunt, Pauline Harris and her husband Lindy; aunt, Geraldine Reynolds; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and her killer Chihuahua, Ginger. Barbara and her family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of Christus Trinity Mother Francis Cardiac ICU who diligently and skillfully took care of her the last few months of her life. We are eternally grateful for their service and compassion, not only to Barbara, but to her family and friends as well. Memorial service will be held on Friday, September 30, 2002 at 1:30p at Broadway Church of Christ in Tyler, Texas. Burial will be at Van Alstyne Cemetery at a future date, where she will join her parents & grandparents, along with many other dear family members.
