Bonnie Kilgore

Funeral services for Bonnie V. Kilgore will be held in the Chapel at Stewart Family Funeral Home on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 10:30 AM. Dr. Phil Lineberger will be officiating. Soloist will be her niece, Mary Dickens. Burial will follow at Tyler Memorial Park. Ms. Kilgore was born in Hopkins County on October 9, 1913; she was the eldest of five children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Alton Kilgore; parents, Tommie Jefferson Dickens and Zoa Wooley Dickens of Miller Grove, Texas; brothers, Cecil and Truett Dickens, Sulphur Springs, Texas and J.D. Dickens of Phoenix Arizona, and her son-in-law, John Mackey of Tyler. Ms. Kilgore was very active in her community and was a member of First Baptist Church for over 30 years. Although she was unable to attend church during her last years she always watched the Sunday morning services. She was also a member of the Martha Sunday School Class. Ms. Kilgore graduated from Cumby High School and earned her Bachelor of Arts and Masters? degrees from East Texas State Teachers College, now known as Texas A & M University at Commerce. She was a dedicated teacher with Tyler Independent School District for over 40 years. She loved her students and spoke of them often, relating some of the humorous stories that happened through the years. Ms. Kilgore is survived by her daughter, Patsy (Pat) Kilgore Mackey, grandson, John Michael Mackey of Fort Worth, great-granddaughters, Jennifer Mackey, Lewisville, Texas and Julie Mackey of Tyler, and her brother, Truman Dickens of Miller Grove, Texas. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Kilgore, Ronnie Holley, Jeff Dickens, Mike Dickens, Brett Bassham and Stephen Thompson. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at The Hamptons at Greenridge, Mother Frances Hospital, Park Place Nursing Home and Hospice of East Texas. A special thanks to the physicians who cared for her during her illness. Family visitation has been scheduled for Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 5:30-7:30 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler.
