Services for Charles Terry Brown, 73, of Tyler, will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Hollinshead officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Sylvan in Mt. Sylvan, Texas under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Brown passed away Monday, October 16, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family and special grand dog, Darby. He was born in Hope, Arkansas to Joseph Barry Brown and Mirla Mary Garner Brown. Charles was a member of United Methodist Church of Hope, Arkansas, although he faithfully attended services, when work schedules allowed, at Cedar Street United Methodist, Grace Community Church, Friendly Baptist Church, and, by Facebook, Quanah Christian Church. He was a member of the Texas Pharmaceutical Association, The Historical Society, and University of Houston Alumni Association. He graduated from Hope High School, Hope. AR, Tyler Jr. College, and The University of Houston College of Pharmacy, 1967. He held the position of Pharmacy Manager of Wal-Mart for 30 years, completing 50 years in pharmacy management working in Kilgore, Houston, Mineola and Tyler. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Barry Brown, Mirla Mary Brown, siblings, Barry Brown, Eunice (Sis) Stanford, Mildred Leggett, and Suzie Maxwell. He is survived by his best friend, love of his life, wife of 48 blessed years, Linda Campbell Brown and beloved precious daughter, Colleen Campbell Brown and her fiancé, Fouad Abedi, both of Houston, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Pallbearers will be Roy John Campbell, Richard Oliver, David C. Payne, Chad Payne, Cameron Payne, and Miz Galindez. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Brown, Dewayne Brown, David A. Payne, Fielding Smith, Gene Hollinshead, and Marshall Campbell. Charlie was a lover of history, especially Texas, and Arkansas, making stops to local book stores during the many adventures he and Linda took. He and Linda loved the beach and traveled many times to the Florida Gulf Coast. Traveling back to his Arkansas roots were a great joy to him and he loved sharing stories with Colleen, family friends and travel buddies, Carol and David A. Payne. He was a natural, but reserved, storyteller, full of wit and wisdom. Colleen was the delight of his life and he was so proud of her as she followed in his footsteps graduating from The University of Houston. They enjoyed many interests together, as she is employed in the medical field. She inherited his sense of humor and love of literature. As a professional, he always looked at the potential of each of his employees and strived to help them reach their full potential. He loved serving the community as a highly qualified professional pharmacist with compassion and loving concern for all. He was an ardent supporter of the University of Houston ("Go Coogs!”) and was honored to be in the Golden Class of Pharmacy Graduates of 50 years! He and Linda had a blessed life together full of love and laughter. Knowing he is breathing full, deep breaths in Heaven helps take away the grief felt now. He "fought the good fight". Rom. 8:28 and Rom. 12:2 were special verses he lived by.
