David Monroe Irby Jr.

In the early morning hours of Saturday, September 19, 2020, David Monroe Irby, Jr. departed the presence of his loving family to enter into heaven. David was born on March 1, 1982 in Tyler, Texas where he spent the majority of his life. He attended Robert E. Lee High School and Tyler Junior College and pursued a career in Cartography. He worked alongside many of his family members and friends over the years, most notably with the business started by his father, Tract, Inc. A kind and gentle soul, David always saw the best in people and situations. He had a brilliant mind and enjoyed studying and discussing history, philosophy, politics, literature and science. Those that were blessed to know him are left with lasting memories of long conversations, his generous spirit and bright smile. David leaves behind many people that love him dearly: his mother and stepfather, Mary and Robert Nathanson of Flint, Texas, sister and sister-in-law, Lori Sellers-Hammon and Julie Hammon of Tyler, Texas, brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Amy Sellers of Bullard, Texas, nieces, Jessica Boykin and husband Josh, and Kathryn Sellers and grandmother, Jackie Pentecost of Hollywood, Florida. Among those that will miss his presence are aunts, uncles and cousins, many of whom held vigil during his final days: Becky and Mike Cox, Ginger and Jerry Cruse, Cyndi and Jim Dunlop, Jerry Don and Shirley Hyde, Jim Hyde, Wayne and Kelly Hyde, Earl and Kaylynne Irby and John Sharp. David had many friends, but held a deep, lifelong bond with Christopher Carter and wife Jamie of Weatherford, Texas. David was greeted in heaven by some of the people he cherished the most: his father, David Monroe Irby, Sr., grandparents, Mollie and C. K. Wood, and Margaret and Aubrey Irby and Aunts Kay Awad, Mollie Hammond, Priscilla Hyde and Ginger Sharp. The outpouring of love, prayers, kind thoughts and words of encouragement have been a tremendous support and are deeply appreciated. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and medical staff of Dallas Presbyterian Hospital’s Neurological Intensive Care Unit and Toni Portwood and the entire team from the Southwest Transplant Alliance. The compassionate care they have shown not only for David but his entire family is a blessing beyond measure. Individual viewing will be held from 12 noon to 3 pm on Wednesday, September 23rd at Stewart Family Funeral Home in Tyler, Texas. A memorial service will be held at Flint Baptist Church on Thursday, September 24th at 1:30 pm.
