Derle Wayne Everett

Services for Derle Wayne Everett, 79, of Tyler, will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 10:30 at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Dr. Paul Powell officiating. Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Everett passed away on June 30, 2014 in Tyler. He was born August 6, 1934. Derle was proud to tell people he was born in Pulltight, a Texas community outside of Gatesville. He spent his school years in Belton, Tx, where he graduated from Belton High School and married his high school sweetheart, Mona Hargrove. They spent 44 years together and raised two daughters. Derle worked briefly for the Highway Department and was a member of the National Guard. He found his calling as a natural salesman and began a career in sales, which took him to Big Spring and brought the family to Tyler in 1967, where he was a sales representative for American Desk Manufacturing Company of Temple. He won several sales awards prior to his retirement. Derle never lost his love for life or his sense of humor, for which family and friends will forever remember him. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting all of his life, particularly with his children and grandchildren. He loved and treasured his family, and being "Deda" to his grandchildren was everything to him. Derle was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Tyler. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Lois Everett of Killeen, wife Mona Everett, daughter Susan Allen, and sister Doris Hodges of Waco. Seven years after Mona's death, he met and married Betty Booth. Betty and Derle enjoyed traveling to the Hill Country, Colorado and Alaska. He is survived by his wife, Betty; his daughter and son-in-law Pam and David Theriot of Tyler; son-in-law Brent Allen of Tyler; and step-sons Dale, David and James Glenn Booth. He is also survived by grandchildren Chelsey Fitzgerald Miller, Haley Fitzgerald, Coleman Fitzgerald, Blake Burrell, Brandon Allen and Matt Theriot. He has 5 step-grandchildren: Richie, Nadene, Jeffery Glenn, Buddy, and William Booth. We will miss his funny sayings and his stories. He had a gift for making people laugh. He was a special man. Pallbearers will be Brent Allen, Dale Booth, Fred Chaney, Hilton Culp, Don Hodges, and Victor (Buddy) Means. Honorary pallbearer is Alvin Jones. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 9:30 AM, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, Tyler, one hour prior to the service.
