Don Neglay

Services for Don Neglay, 64 of Bullard, will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Friendly Baptist Church in Tyler with Rev. Dale Perry and Rev. Donald Hampton officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Neglay passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Clairmont Nursing Home in Tyler. He was born on September 18, 1943 in Clifton, Texas to Clement and Alberta Campbell Neglay. He was raised in Axtell where he graduated from Axtell High School. Mr. Neglay had a long career in law enforcement including 19 years with the Texas Department of Public Safety, of which he is especially proud. He also proudly served in the Smith County Sheriffs Department for 7 years and in the Security Division of Brookshire's Grocery for 14 years. He was an active member of Friendly Baptist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed hiking, especially in the Smokies, and spending time with his family. Mr. Neglay was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by a loving family including his wife of 10 years, Sybil Neglay; his mother, Alberta Stewart of Axtell; three daughters, Karen and husband Sonny Monteagudo of Gladewater, Katrina and husband Joey LaCaze of Caldwell, and Michele Vick of Khartoum, Sudan; two brothers, Kirk Stewart of Virginia and Larry Stewart of Las Vegas, Nevada; and five grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Ricky Coughran, Randy Waddle, Randy Gouldthorpe, Glenn Barnes, Gaylon Jones, and James Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be Brookshire's Security Guards and officers from the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Smith County Sheriff's Department. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, December 3, 2007 at 6:00-8:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, Tyler, Texas 75703.
