Eleanor Murphy

Services for Eleanor "Jackie" Murphy, 81, Tyler are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. David O'Neal and Rev. Tom Brown officiating. Burial will be in Cathedral In The Pines Cemetery under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Murphy passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005 at her home. She was born to the late Lee Vernon Howell and Margaret Alvenia Jones Howell on March 5, 1924 in Longleaf, Louisiana. Mrs. Murphy was a former owner of Broadway Furniture, Murphy Brothers and Murphy's Furniture Gallery. She was also a former owner of Murphy Peach Orchard and an avid gardner. A member of First Presbyterian Church in Tyler, she was also a charter member of Highland Presbyterian Church. She was one of the founders of P.A.T.H., formerly P.A.C.T. (Practical Application of Christian Teaching). She still found time to serve her community by volunteering as a Camp Fire Leader, Cub Scout Leader, and Sunday School Teacher for her church. Her greatest joy was being a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Ross Murphy, and her parents. Jackie is survived by her loving family including her children, Margaret Lacy of Amarillo, Ross Murphy and wife Mary of Mesa, Arizona, Randy Murphy and wife Margaret of Phoenix, Arizona, Marilyn Partney and husband Richard of Amarillo, and David Murphy and wife, Carla of Tyler; grandchildren, Stan Lacy, Elizabeth Lacy, Brad Murphy, Lee Murphy, Ashley Murphy, Kristin Reynolds, Cherie Phillips, Courtney Partney, and Amanda Partney; great-grandchildren, Colby, Carson, and Cooper Reynolds, Amber Phillips, Grace Murphy, and Jackson Lee Murphy; sister, Doris McArthur of Glenmora, La.; aunt, Cleo Monroe of Glenmore, La.; sister-in-law, Ruth Wilson and husband John; brother-in-law, Bill Murphy and wife Cleone; her life long friends, Elizabeth and Albert Baade; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Brad Murphy, Lee Murphy, Stan Lacy, Jeff Reynolds, Brandon Baade, Albert Baade, Don Hill and Dave Shaffer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Leon Welborn, Charles Clark, Dr. Wayne Babin, and her Adult Sunday School class at First Presbyterian Church. The family would like to express special thanks to the care provided by Dr. Thomas Alexander, Dr. Arielle Lee, Dr. Richard K. Wilms, Dr. David Gass, Dr. Charles Heaton, and Dr. Ronald Smith. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy., south Tyler 75703.
