Frances "Fran" Fowler Anderson

Funeral services for Frances Fowler Anderson, 92, of Tyler will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Dodson and Rev. Lennon Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, one hour prior to the service at Stewart Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest following the service in Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Anderson passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016 in Tyler. She was born on June 28, 1923 in Dallas to her late parents, Velma Hale Hodges born in Mineral Wells and Howard O. Fowler born in Garden Valley. Fran was a beacon of light to all those she met. She never met a stranger, only future friends. She was the quintessential perfect “southern lady”, truly a gracious lady-elegant and refined, yet warm and nurturing; she was always a hostess, with a smile for everyone. Known as Mom, Granny, and friend, Fran touched every person’s life in such a way as to not be forgotten. Smiling always and intently listening to every word spoken, Fran could give an encouraging word, or a hug and make everything better. Fran graduated from Business school in Dallas. She was a model at Neiman-Marcus and Titches. When WWII began, she wanted to do her part, so she went to work at North American Aviation. After the war, Fran was always involved with her family. In Lafayette, Louisiana, she became a certified interior designer. After making her home in Tyler in 1973, she became co-owner of Promoter’s Supply Inc. Fran received a lifetime PTA award, was on the YMCA board, a WMU president, a member of The Tyler Garden Club and an active member of First Baptist Church of Tyler. She is survived by her loving family including daughter, Jean Simonsen and husband Mike; son, James L. Anderson and wife Marsha; loving grandsons, Bill Russell and wife, Laura of Sammamish, Washington, C. J. Anderson and wife, Amy of Tyler and Jeremy Anderson of Dallas; 10 great-grandchildren; step-grandsons, Matt and Jack Simonsen from Elko, Nevada, and a nephew, Steve Fowler and a niece, Sandy Fowler Thompson both from Dallas. Because of her faith and trust in God, and her embodiment of gracious Southern hospitality and inclusiveness, Frances’ legacy lives on through her family. She had unconditional love and acceptance of every person she met. She was the embodiment of I Corinthians 13:4-7. Thank you to all who were a part of Fran’s life. You were cherished.
