Gareld Wimberly

Services for Garry Wimberly, 69, of Whitehouse, will be held on Wednesday, June 29, at 10:30 AM at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Rev. Bennie Portwood officiating. Burial will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery in Whitehouse under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Wimberly passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011 in Tyler. He was born August 17, 1941 in Wichita, Kansas to Gale Forest and Eva Maye Dickson Wimberly. Mr. Wimberly is a 1959 graduate of Whitehouse ISD and graduated from Stephen F. Austin University in 1964 with a degree in Agriculture Science. Garry was a 61 year resident of Smith County and an active member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher. Mr. Wimberly was a Charter Member and Treasurer of Whitehouse Young Farmers Association, past President and member of the Whitehouse ISD School Board, active supporter of Smith County 4-H, Whitehouse FFA and Treasurer for Smith County Livestock Association. Mr. Wimberly also served on the Tyler Board of Economics. He was a cattle rancher and Beauty Supply salesman for 45 years. Mr. Wimberly was preceded in death by his parents, Gale and Eva “Dixie” Wimberly; twin brother Larry Wimberly and younger brother, Johnny Wimberly. He is survived by his loving family including wife of 50 years, Lana Wimberly; sons, Jeff Wimberly and wife Elizabeth of Liberty Hill, Steve Wimberly and wife Berni of Tyler, Lysander “Pete” Williams of Houston; daughters Lisa Mouton and husband Charlie of Gladewater, Lori Wimberly of Tyler; fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Gayle Barker and husband, Wendal of Wortham and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Chance Wimberly, Michel Wimberly, Brian Wimberly, Paul Barker, Clay Martin, and Jacob Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Encouragers Sunday School class, The 42 Group, and George Cronin. Visitation is scheduled from 6:00 –8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 28 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler. If desired, memorials may be made to Mt.
