Genevieve Kamel Horaney

Requiem Mass for Genevieve Kamel Horaney, 58, of Tyler, will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Father Timothy Kelly and Father Joe Nasser will officiate, under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Genny passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 in Tyler. She was born August 11, 1956 in Tyler to Raymond Joseph and Shirley Zwan Kamel. Genny was raised in Dallas and graduated from J.J. Pierce High School and Richland College. She worked at Collins Radio and Republic National Insurance Co. She and Al were married in Dallas on January 13, 1990. Genny and Al then moved to Longview where they lived for 12 years before moving to Tyler in 2001. Genny worked with her husband Al at their business and was very active in community affairs. She was a past board member of The Hospice Foundation of East Texas and the American Heart Association. She was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and enjoyed working at the Food Pantry of the church and the Belles of Saint Mary Magdalene, a passion she loved. Genny was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Joseph Kamel and father-in-law Albert Horaney. She is survived by her loving family including husband of 25 years, Al Horaney, of Tyler; son, Alexander Scott Horaney of Tyler: mother, Shirley Zwan Kamel of Tyler: brothers: Michael Kamel and David Kamel of Plano: aunts: Yvette Kamel of San Antonio and Yvonne Kamel of Tyler and Delores Kamel of Houston: ;mother-in-law, Betty Horaney of Longview and brother-in-law, Ron Horaney and wife Faezeh of Longview and numerous cousins. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Harry, Michael Kamel, David Kamel, Paul Procell, George Naman, Greg Gani, John Johnson, George NeJame and Ken Cluley. Visitation is scheduled from 3:00 - 5:00 PM on Friday, April 17, 2015, followed by the Rosary officiated by Bishop Joseph Strickland, Father Timothy Kelly and Father Joe Nasser at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler. The family would like to say a special thanks to Dr. Amy Simpson and Dr. Gina Jetter for their professional care.
