Memorial services for Gloria Reid Hightower Drennan, 83, of Tyler will be held on Friday, February 1, 2008 at 12:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Dr. Paul Powell officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 AM in Rose Hill Cemetery under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Drennan passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. She was born on April 22, 1924 in Navarro County, Texas to the late Russell and Ethel Threet Reid. She was raised in East Texas and graduated from Arp High School. She also lived in Troup, Corsicana and Henderson, where she and her husband, L.G. owned and operated the Drennan-Murphy Brothers Furniture Store for many years. After moving to Tyler, she became a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. She was a dedicated homemaker and enjoyed playing cards and Mah Jong in her spare time. Mrs. Drennan was a genuine, kind and loving person who will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Mrs. Drennan was preceded in death by husbands, Jack M. Hightower, and L. G. Drennan; a daughter, Janice Hightower Fincke; a brother, Alva Reid; and a stepson, Steve Drennan. She is survived by a loving family including a daughter, Debbie Townsend and husband Ken of Tyler; a stepdaughter Georgeanna Tamaro and husband John of Allen; a stepson, Dave Drennan and wife Joanna of Denison; four grandchildren, Laura Coppola and husband Paul of New Jersey, Patricia Dobbs of Tyler, Brad Townsend and wife Lori of Whitehouse, and Lauren Townsend of Tyler; four great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends. Pallbearers will be Kent Townsend, Rusty Hightower, Pat Hightower, Joe McClain, Brad Townsend, and Joe Norton. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Townsend, Royce Townsend, Paul Coppola and Ardene Hendley. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 31, 2008 from 6:00-7:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, Tyler, Texas 75703.
