Harold Henry

Services for Harold Henry, 68, Tyler, are scheduled for 10:30 A.M., Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005 at Stewart Family Funeral Chapel with Dr. Johnny Beard officiating. Private burial will be in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery prior to service under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Henry passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005 in Tyler. He was born on August 6, 1937 in Anderson County and lived in the Tyler area most of his life. A graduate of Cayuga High School in 1955 and later completing his Associate's Degree from business school, he served in the U. S. Navy aboard the USS Hancock. His life's work was in transportation, working as a Terminal Manager for East Texas Motor Freight for 23 years. He retired from the industry in 1998. He was a past Master of St. John's Masonic Lodge and member of Sharon Temple Shriners. As a member of The Strutters Organization, he served as President and Grand Marshall of the Texas Rose Festival Parade in 1985 and 1993. He was also past President of Tyler Civitan Club and member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church. He enjoyed cattle ranching, taking friends hunting and, when he was younger, flying as a pilot. He truly loved people and was an inspiration to many especially his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Heath Henry. Harold is survived by his loving family including his wife of 28 years, Nell Henry of Tyler; sons, Joe Henry of Flint and Heath Henry of Tyler; mother, Thelma Henry of Athens; sister-in-law, Brenda McMullen and husband Don; nephew, Kirk Ross and wife Karen of Longview; niece, Karen Ross of Longview; special relatives, Steve Gray of Dallas, Michael Gray and wife Elizabeth of Maine, and Rebecca Grossman and husband Peter and daughter, Alexis, of California. Honorary Pallbearers will be his childhood friends, Jerry Legard, Hubert Schitoskey, Donn Conard, and Roy Lee Fraim as well as Dr. Joseph Prud'homme, Dr. Brock Lutz, Dr. Blake Harrison, Dr. Thomas Lowery, Dr. James Cotton, Dr. Roy Gerard, Dr. Robert Dobrowolski, and Dr. Jeffrey Carr. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy., south Tyler 75703.
