Memorial services for Helen Jane Byrum, 77, of Tyler, Texas will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Green Acres Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Paul Powell and Rev. Rusty Canoy officiating. Burial will be on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Byrum passed away Monday, June 8, 2015 in Tyler, Texas after a long battle with cardiovascular disease. She was able to spend time with those she loved in her last months, continued to make new friends and was an example of grace even in poor health. She was born March 6, 1938 in Tyler, Texas to Homer and Dot Wood. Helen was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church. She graduated from Tyler High School where she was homecoming queen and a drum majorette. Helen retired from Dillard’s after a number of years selling ladies clothing in Fort Worth, Oklahoma City and Tyler. Later she worked in Tyler at Daisy’s, Storkland and Express Employment Professionals. Helen loved her heavenly Father, life, home and family. She was known for her sense of humor and great cooking. Helen was preceded in death by her mother, father and her sister, Pat Gilbreath. She is survived by her loving family including daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Troy Sanders of Arlington, and son and daughter-in-law of Tyler, Rocky and Carrie Gill, grandchildren, Dylan Sanders, Hannah and Campbell Gill, and a great-granddaughter, Annakate Negem. Helen is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Edith and Larry Canoy of Duncan, Oklahoma and her sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Roy Dion of Cary, North Carolina. She is survived as well by many friends and family members. Pallbearers will be Dylan Sanders, David Porter, Ronnie Pyron, Don Thompson, Vernon Caldwell and Billie Sims. Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler, Texas.
