Henry Keeton

Services for Henry “Pete” Keeton, 85, of Tyler, will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Mayfield officiating. Burial will follow in Bullard City Cemetery in Bullard under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Keeton passed away, Monday, July 27, at ETMC in Tyler. He was born November 15, 1923 in Cherokee County to William “Pop” Floyd and Cora “Mama” Jackson Keeton. Mr. Keeton served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Shangri-La during WWII. He was retired from Carrier and later spent many hours playing with his pet cats and squirrel. He also spent many hours as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Keeton was also a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Maureen Keeton. Mr. Keeton is survived by his loving family including his wife of 63 years, Maxine Jo Langley Keeton of Tyler; children, Peggy Chandler of Tyler, Carol Harris and husband Jimmy of Tyler, Linda Ellis and husband Joe of Frankston and Diana McMillan and husband Pat of Tyler; grandchildren, Kevin Chandler of Tyler, Karen and Joe Becker of OK, Kristen and Chris Kotz of CA, Brad Harris and Shanti of Tyler, Julianne Harris of Farmers Branch, Taryn and Cliff Evans of Frankston, Kay and David Diaz of Pleasanton, Jill and Aaron Key of Tyler, and Mary McMillan of Tyler; sisters, Dorothy Ivy and husband Connie of Whitehouse, Martha Ray and husband Jimmy of Waco; sisters-in-law, Anna Barnett and husband Earl of Tyler and Wilda Langley of McKinney; and great-grandchildren, Collin, Aiden, Gabi, Alexis, Jaxon, Dylan, Xander, Brandt, Zoei, Blaise, Keeton and Caden; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Harris, Joe Ellis, Pat McMillan, Bradley Harris, Kevin Chandler, David Diaz, Cliff Evans, Aaron Key and Joseph Becker. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Kotz, and fellow service men from the USS Shangri-La. Visitation is scheduled from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, July 29, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy, Tyler, Texas 75703.
