Services for J. Cris Pinkerton, 59, of Tyler will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at 1:30 PM at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church with Dr. Paul Powell officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Pinkerton passed away on November 23, 2008 in Tyler. He was born on July 18, 1949 in Tyler to the late Doc and Jean Pinkerton. He was raised in Tyler and graduated from John Tyler High School. He went on to graduate from Texas A&M University Class of ‘71. Mr. Pinkerton served as Senior Vice President of Southside Bank for 33 years. He was an active member of the Tyler Chamber of Commerce and a recipient of the W.C. Windsor award. Mr. Pinkerton served as an usher with the Rose Coronation, was a member of the Board of the East Texas Council of Governments, and served as a school board member of Chapel Hill ISD for 13 years. Mr. Pinkerton was a member of St. Johns Masonic Lodge #53 in Tyler, a member of the Waco Scottish Rite Bodie, and of Sharon Temple. Most of all, he was a giver. He loved people and enjoyed helping people. One of the greatest joys in his life was spending time with his family and especially his granddaughters. Mr. Pinkerton is survived by his wife of 33 years, Janet Pinkerton of Tyler; son, Jason Pinkerton of Tyler; daughter, Bonnie R. Pinkerton of Houston; grandchildren, Kara and Reese Pinkerton; sister, Lynn Pinkerton of Houston; brother, Jeff Pinkerton and wife Connie of The Woodlands; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jason Pinkerton, Jeff Pinkerton, Kim Kitchens, Joel Irwin, Jim Keeling, and Ronnie Glaspie. Honorary pallbearers will be Percy Everhart, Danny Wills, Cayla Washburn, Lonnie Uzzell, Larry Brock, Chuck Bice, Craig Bice, and Shorty Caldwell. Visitation is scheduled from 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler. Memorials in honor of J. Cris Pinkerton may be made to St. Paul’s Children’s Foundation, 1358 E.
