James Kane

James Albert Kane (77) died on Wednesday, May 17, 2006. Mr. Kane was born on June 30, 1928 in Geneva, New York, to the late Dr. Albert J. Kane and Elizabeth Hobbins Kane. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Joanne Kane who died at age 19. He was a graduate of DeSales High School in Geneva, New York. He attended Syracuse University and Hobart College, and graduated from the Freeman Business Institute in Geneva, New York. He was a Master Sergeant in the Army during the Korean War, assigned to the European Ski Patrol. He was one of the founding members of the Young Republicans Club in Geneva, New York. Mr. Kane was Executive Vice President of Lady Arrow, division of Cluett, Peabody & Company in New York, New York. In 1979, Mr. Kane and his wife moved to Dallas, Texas, and eventually settled in the East Texas Area at Emerald Bay Community located on Lake Palestine. He helped the Emerald Bay Men?s Golf Association ("MGA") start a college scholarship fund for Bullard High School graduates. Mr. Kane, with his wife, founded, owned and operated Lake Palestine, Emerald Bay Realty located on Highway 155 in Dogwood City. He was a member of the Tyler Board of Realtors for 22 years. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Phyllis Fisher Kane, and 8 children Kathleen Kane, Freehold, NJ, Maureen Kane, Paradise Valley, AZ, Eileen Strong, and husband Joseph Strong, Knoxville, TN, Colleen Kane, Rochester, NY, Karen Sanabria, Dallas, TX, Sharon Kemp and husband Phillip Kemp, Tyler, TX, James Kane and wife Nancy O'Brien-Kane, Chicago, IL and John Kane and wife Lisa Rawl, Houston, TX and 23 grand children Zackary, Zara, Zandra, Zoanne, Zena, Mary Shauna, Joseph, Jimmy, Julie, Tommy, Tara, Mary, Angela, Anna, Stephen, Michael, Siobhan, Ashley, Teresa, Jessica, James, John and Nancy. Pallbearers include friends Chuck Collins and John Murphy of Emerald Bay, sons James Hobbins Kane and John Kenneth Kane and grandsons Zackary Kane Zweber and Thomas Matthew Strong. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 23rd, at The Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, Tyler, 75703. Funeral services for Mr. Kane are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 18221 FM RD 2493 Flint, 75762, with Father John Kelly and Father Luke Kalarickal co-officiating. Burial will be in Cathedral in the Pines under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. If desired, memorials in honor of James A.
