Janice Fay Abbott

Janice Fay (Martin) Abbott, 82, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, in Tyler, Texas. Born on August 31, 1943, Janice lived a life grounded in faith, family, and service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Thelma Martin. Janice shared 61 years of marriage with her beloved husband, John Abbott. Together they built a loving family and a lifetime of treasured memories. She is survived by her beloved husband, John; her children, Mark Abbott (Elizabeth) of Prosper, TX; Tracey Nettleton (David) of Hideaway, TX; and Curt Abbott (Katie) of Flint, TX; seven grandchildren, Tyler Abbott (Amy); Madison Abbott; Caleb Abbott; Katelyn Abbott; Christopher Nettleton; Bethany Nettleton; and Andrew Nettleton; and her great-granddaughter, Emerson Abbott. Janice dedicated her career to education, serving as a business teacher and librarian in Alaska, Kentucky, and Texas. She retired from Alba-Golden Independent School District in 2001 after 21 years of service. One of Janice's greatest strengths was her resilience. A breast cancer survivor of nearly thirty years, she formed lifelong friendships through survivor camps, retreats, and breast cancer awareness events. These women became an extended family, sharing encouragement, laughter, and unwavering support. Janice loved books, jigsaw puzzles, and Mahjong. Though kind and soft-spoken, she possessed a quiet determination and competitive spirit that often surprised those who knew her best. Janice treasured time around the dinner table, holiday celebrations, and simple conversations with those she loved. Her Christian faith guided her life and was evident in the grace, compassion, and steadfast love she extended to others. Janice spent her later years at Meadow Lake Senior Living in Tyler alongside her loving husband, John. A graveside service celebrating Janice's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Tyler, Texas with Rev. Bryan Grant and Liz Abbott officiating. The family wishes to express deep gratitude for the love, care, and support given to Janice while she resided at Meadow Lake Senior Living. We are also grateful for the compassionate care provided by Heart to Heart Hospice of Tyler, Texas, during her transition to Heaven. Memorials may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice at 7925 S.
