Janice Corley

Services for Janice Connally Corley, 88, of Tyler, will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Stuart Baskin officiating. Burial will follow in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Corley passed away, Thursday, September 24, 2009 in Tyler. She was born January 1, 1921 in Lindale to Margaret Eleanor York and John Ira Buckalew. Mrs. Corley was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a former member of Central Baptist Church. She was raised in Corsicana and graduated from Corsicana High School. She then moved to Tyler and attended the Federal Institute Business School. Janice worked as a bookkeeper for Carlton Hotel and Hurwitz Men’s Shop. She enjoyed gardening, handwork such as cross stitch and needlepoint and reading. She was very active in the Eastern Star. Mostly she loved spending time with her family. Mrs. Corley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim Corley, son William I. Connally, and brother Robert Buckalew. Janice is survived by her loving family including her daughter, Linda Kay Whetsell and husband Dr. Joe Whetsell of Tyler; daughter-in-law Sharon Connally of Oklahoma City, OK.; sister, Mildred Stell and husband Rex of Centerville; grandchildren, Dawn Fenstad and husband Keith of Cypress, Kimberly Nowak of Cypress, Jim Whetsell and wife Megumi of Everett, Washington, Mike Whetsell and wife Lynne of Glenpool, OK., Cathy Humphries and husband Dewey of Bullard, Aimee Beasley and fiancé Mike Johnson of Glenpool, OK., Joseph Whetsell and wife Marian of Colorado; and 11 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jack Blaschke, Mike Floyd, Monroe Martin, Lee Mayfield, Jim Connally and Gary Wyman. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Atria on Copeland and Dr. David Beaird, Dr. Keith Frazier, and Dr. Colin Koon. Visitation is scheduled from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, September 25, 2009 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy, Tyler, Texas 75703.
