Jean Pinkerton

Memorial services and life celebration will be held for Jean Waller Pinkerton, wife of the late Dr. Justin (Doc) Pinkerton, on September 22 at 11:00 am at Friendly Baptist Church, 1903 E. Front St., with Brother Dale Perry presiding. Surrounded by the love and deep gratitude of her family, "Jeanie" made the transition into her new life on September 18, 2007. Under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home, burial will be preceding the services at Cathedral in the Pines in a private family service with Brother Pat Alvey. Jeanie's remarkable, generous life began on February 22, 1924 in Tyler, Texas when she was born to Charles William and Irene Waller. She graduated from John Tyler High School in 1941 and began her adventure with Doc in 1943. Her interests centered around Friendly Baptist Church, community and her family as she served as PTA president, taught Sunday School and Bible Study groups, enthusiastically worked with youth groups and eagerly supported the Smith County Hay Show for many years. She was also a Charter Member of the East Texas Cattle-Ettes Association and a member of the East Texas Piney Woods Cattle Women's Association. She found great joy in playing with children, especially her great grand-children, and was always ready for bubble blowing, kite flying or winding up some fun from her ready supply of dancing, singing mechanical toys. Jeanie also found pleasure in playing hymns on her piano and playing her harmonica, as well as a lively game of cards and dominos. Family was a priority to Jean and Doc. They created a Christ-centered home where the door was always open and the love and acceptance unlimited. God was Jean's constant companion, as she lived a life overflowing with generosity and love for everyone she met. Her life was defined by an unfailing faith in God and her tender, steady love for others. Her family remaining to celebrate her life and carry on her love and generosity, include her children, Sherry Lynn Pinkerton of Houston, J. Cris Pinkerton and wife, Janet of Tyler, Texas and Jeffrey William Pinkerton and wife, Connie of The Woodlands, Texas, grandchildren Jason and wife Roxi and Bonnie Pinkerton of and Adrienne and Nick DiRaddo, great grand children, Kara and Reese and sisters Helen Appelberg and Charlene Bice, and her husband Richard, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and treasured friends. Honorary Pall Bearers include Grandsons Jason Pinkerton and Nick DiRaddo, Pat Pinkerton, Chuck Bice, Craig Bice, George and Louise Rook "The Gang": Jimmy and Jeanette Sloan, Joe and Rosie Willmon, Pat and Richard Minter, Jim and Shirley Marshall and Donna and Ray Blevins.
