John Francis Gurasich

John Francis Gurasich passed away Monday, October 27, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. He was born on March 26, 1948, in Long Beach, California to Stephen William and Joan Cotter Gurasich, one of a set of triplet boys. John met Linda Isbell while attending the University of Texas and they married in the summer of 1970, enjoying 55 years of marriage. They have 3 children, Bradley John, Stephen James and Dana Marie, who he was immensely proud of. He graduated with a master’s degree in taxation in 1971 and moved to Denver to pursue a career with Arthur Andersen. They were excited to experience life with snow, skiing and fly fishing. After 8 years at Andersen he decided to pursue a new career opportunity as a real estate developer, broker, and consultant in Phoenix, Arizona. After 34 successful years, he retired to Dripping Springs, Texas where he was closer to family and could help his brother Bill with his real estate activities. He was an avid bow hunter and fisherman and taught his kids the joys of being outdoors in nature. His nickname to his hunting friends was Mr. Lucky. He hunted and fished with family and friends across many parts of the United States and Canada throughout his life and loved the camaraderie that came with sharing a meal next to a campfire. He spent 5 years in Scouting watching his 2 sons achieve the rank of Eagle, along with many of their friends. John was involved in numerous charitable activities. He was most proud of teaching Boots to Business, for 5+ years at Ft Hood, motivating entrepreneurs as they moved from Army to civilian life. John and Linda have 5 grandchildren, whom along with their parents, were the center of his life. He was so proud of each one of them. Known to his grandchildren as “Papa”, he was an enthusiastic supporter of everything they loved to do. He celebrated their different passions and interests and made sure they each felt loved and inspired. Playing bridge was one of his favorite pastimes. He and Linda traveled all over attending tournaments and meeting people who also loved the game. After moving to Tyler in 2022, he found a wonderful bridge community at the Rose City Bridge Club and achieved Bronze Life Master. He was a huge fan of Notre Dame football, always willing to take a bet when someone was rooting for the other team. Nothing got in the way of those Fall Saturdays. John was preceded in death by his triplet brothers, Steve and Bill, his brother Paul, and his parents. He is survived by his wife Linda; son Brad and wife Laura, and their children Madelyn, Kate and Claire; son Steve; daughter Dana Jones and husband Thomas and their children Jacob and Kenzie, sisters Joan Gurasich and Andrea Morgan and her family, sisters-in-law Jill Carey, Julie Ferris and Nancy Gurasich and their families.
