John Jenkins,

Services for John C. Jenkins, Sr., 76, of Tyler will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Pine Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Towns officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Retreat Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Jenkins went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 13, 2009 in Tyler. He was born on March 3, 1933 in Oakwood, Texas to the late Archie L. and Ruby Jenkins. He married Dorothy Robison Jenkins in 1959 and passed away on their 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. Jenkins served his country in the United States Army at Fort Huachuca in Arizona. He later retired from East Texas Medical Center in 1998 where he worked for 15 years. Mr. Jenkins was a member of Pine Springs Baptist Church. He was an ordained Baptist deacon. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jenkins was preceded in death by three brothers, James Jenkins, Bill Jenkins and Arnold Jenkins and a daughter, Rebecca Jenkins. He is survived by a loving family including his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Robison Jenkins of Tyler; a son, John Jenkins, Jr. of Tyler; two daughters, Ruth Jenkins of Dallas and Debbie Jenkins Wilde of South Texas; one sister, Ann Shirley of Tyler; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be John Jenkins Jr., Bud Welch, W. A. Talley and Louis Ford. Visitation is scheduled from 6:30 – 7:30 PM on Monday, March 16, 2009 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler. In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of John C.
