Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph Ashley Cussen, 43, of Lewisville will be celebrated on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Bishop Joseph Strickland and Rev. Augustine Tharappel presiding. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Tyler. Mr. Cussen passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at his residence in Lewisville, Texas. He was born on February 21, 1975 in Mission Viejo, California to Thomas & Patricia up in Lake Forrest, California and moved to Tyler, Texas with his family when he was ten years old. He attended Bishop T.K. Gorman School and Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler. After graduating high school, he continued his higher education at The University of Texas at Arlington where he received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Communications. Joe began his career at the Ft. Worth Zoo where he photographed animals and created films for education purposes. His career in communications continued at PSAV in Dallas where he was the manager of PSAV’s presentation collection and distribution software. Joe loved the Dallas Stars, old movies and his dog, Wilson. He enjoyed quoting lines from movies and will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor and great kindness. Joe was a wonderful son, brother and uncle and will be greatly missed by his family. Joe is survived by his parents, Patricia and Thomas Cussen of Tyler; four sisters, Amy Maurer (Chris) Of Coppell; Rachel Yontz, (Doug) of Delavan, Illinois; Margaret Von Lehmden (Aaron) of Savannah, Georgia; Ruth Van Houten (Brant) of Houston, Texas; 14 nieces and nephews, Matthew, Jack and Rose Maurer, Sam, Paul, Luke, Jacob, Molly and Ian Yontz; Parker and Walter Von Lehmden; Henry, Mary and Ruby Van Houten and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Pallbearers will be Mr. Mike Crookshanks, Dr. Ron Pinkenburg, Mr. Chris Redmon, Dr. Brad Robertson, Dr. Herd Snider and Mr. Tony Traweek. Visitation is scheduled from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler.
