Judy Reed Kent

Services for Judith (Judy) Reed Kent, 79, of Tyler will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. in the Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Wiley officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Kent passed away June 12, 2024, in Tyler. She was born August 16, 1944, in Baytown, Texas to Charles A. Reed and Zella C. Reed. She attended Jacksonville High School, but moved to Tyler her senior year and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School where she met the love of her life, Wayne Kent. She and Wayne shared 58 beautiful years of marriage. She supported his dream of launching a fishing lure manufacturing company by helping him assemble lures in their garage as newlyweds. After 25 years of working together, they purchased Creme Lure Company and four years later acquired Burke Flex-O lures. Because of her desire to share various cultures of the world with those she loved, she and Wayne took their children and grandchildren on remarkable trips which cultivated a love of travel throughout the family. She cherished making memories with her family, whether it was traveling, spending time at little league baseball fields, having lunches with family and friends, or hosting family get togethers. She always looked forward to hosting family celebrations for her favorite holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was involved in Bible Study Fellowship and volunteer work. She will be remembered for her light-heartedness, words of wisdom, fortitude, and selfless spirit. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Kent, her mother Zella C. Reed, her father Charles A. Reed, and her sister Barbara Brunt. She is survived by her daughter Leslie Kent Thompson and husband Perry Thompson III, son Christopher Kent and wife Anne Kent; granddaughters: Ashley Fettig and husband Aric Fettig, Brooke Harris and husband Tavis Harris, Sarah Schmitt and husband Tim Schmitt, and Emily Cook and husband Patrick Cook. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: Hudson Fettig, Gavin Fettig, Adalyn Fettig, Tripp Harris, Tinley Harris, Natalie Schmitt, and Nicole Schmitt. She leaves behind one sister, Sherry Bogue and husband Bob Bogue. Pallbearers will be Aric Fettig, Tavis Harris, Tim Schmitt, and Patrick Cook. Visitation is scheduled from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler. If desired, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
