Larry Patterson

Services for Richard Larry Patterson, 68, of Tyler, will be held Sunday, June 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Ken Warren of Green Acres Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Noonday Cemetery in Noonday under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Patterson went home to be with his Lord June 19, 2008. He was born May 24, 1940 in Terrell, Texas to the late Robert and Floy Patterson. He graduated from Tyler High School in 1958. He graduated from Tyler Junior College and attended East Texas State University. Mr. Patterson was a longtime member of Green Acres Baptist Church. He worked at Continental Can Co., Alton Packaging and Patterson Trading Co. In 1980, he formed his own company, Tyler Corrugated Box, Inc. Larry Patterson was married to his high school sweetheart, Lillie Jean Phillips Patterson for 48 years. The loves of his life were his children and grandchildren. He loved going on trips with them, taking them to the lake and having a “grand” celebration each 4th of July for them. He was an avid hunter and had a great passion for collecting cars. His generosity and quick wit will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him. Mr. Patterson was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Floy Patterson, and a brother, Harold Patterson. He is survived by his wife, Jean; son and daughter-in-law Greg and Amy Patterson of Tyler; a daughter and son-in-law Teri and Tom Westerheide of Fort Worth; four grandchildren, Whitney and Wade Westerheide of Fort Worth, and Olivia and Martha Patterson of Tyler; a brother, Raymond Patterson of Denton; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be Lee Phillips, Allan Moss, Alex Moss, Aaron Saldana, Leroy Sellers, and Jerry Peery. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy., Tyler, Texas 75703.
