Lillian George Arnold

Lillian George Arnold, 94, of Tyler, passed away on May 26, 2015. She devoted her life to loving and raising her family, serving her Lord, and enriching the lives of others with her zest for life. Lill was born on October 3, 1920 to T.V. and Kathleen M. George in Petersburg, TN. She graduated from Draughon Business School in Nashville, Tenn. On May 30, 1946, she married Lawrence Walker Arnold in Fayetteville, TN and moved to Marshall, TX to undertake a business opportunity in a Gulf Oil Distributorship. While in Marshall, she developed many lifelong friends. In 1965, the family moved to Manchester, TN, as franchisees in the Holiday Inn industry. She served as the corporation secretary in these business ventures until returning to Marshall for retirement. After her husband’s death, she moved to Tyler in 2003. Lill was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marshall where she sang in the choir, participated in Bible Studies, and was active in Christian Women’s Club. She loved gardening, fishing, and cooking with family and friends. As avid golfers, she and Larry were members of the Southern Seniors Golf Association and traveled extensively to play courses around the country. She is survived by her two daughters and their families: Madeline(John) Adcock of Tyler and Kathleen (Don) Huneycutt of Jackson, TN; five grandchildren: Daniel (Jessica) Adcock of Potomac, MD; Stephen(Lauren) Adcock of Benbrook, TX; James Adcock of Denver, CO; Andrew ( Courtney) Keim of Louisville, KY; Todd (Julie) Keim of Jackson, TN. She also has two step-grandchildren: Roger (Frederique) Huneycutt of Wichita, KS and Leah (David) Meading of Denver, CO and six great grandchildren: Sophie Adcock, Liam Adcock, and Landon Adcock, Amita Keim, Tyler Jae Huneycutt, and also a blessing on the way. The service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 9:30 AM at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel in Tyler, with Dr. Charles Dodson officiating. Visitation will follow the service. A graveside service will be following on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Algoma Cemetery in Marshall, TX, under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
