Lillian Greig

"They shall praise the Lord that seek him; Your heart shall live forever." (Psalm 22:26) Mrs. Lillian Ethel Greig, resident of Houston, joined her Savior the morning of December 8, 2004, one month short of her 92nd birthday. Her attending daughters witnessed the Beautiful Release of her spirit from its damaged body and praise the Lord; who raised it to Himself immediately upon our assurances she could leave us and seek his embrace. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Lillian grew up in Dallas, graduating from Southern Methodist University with the honor of Mortar Board. After studying piano with Harold von Mickwitz, she made her concert debut. For several years she was organist for Bethany Methodist Church, then substitute organist at Chapelwood Methodist Church, both in Houston. Lillian was especially proud of her years as secretary to the late Dr. Leon Dmochowski, Head of Virology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, and her work in the Tapes and Publications ministry of Berachah Church, where she was a longtime member. Her greatest achievements were her generous heart and her trusting integrity. These expressed themselves in exemplary motherhood, unconditional love at all times, and in the sincerest gifts of friendship. Steadfast as granite in her loyalties, Lillian was also diligent and creative in the smallest details of love for family and friends. She sought her Lord early, and the grace of her quietness of spirit blessed all who were fortunate to witness her life's praise of her Savior. A joyful person, she maintained a merry heart despite the several disappointments and bewilderments that came her way across her many years. Lillian was a lover of people, a lover of animals, a person of order and courage, a true toiler for the most beautiful of mortal beliefs. Always, she wished and worked for the best for those around her. Lillian was predeceased by her beloved mother, Ida C. Campbell, and beloved stepfather, Robert B. Campbell, as well as by Arch Greig, father of her children. Daughters Geraldine Gobi Greig and Janice Greig Foshee survive her. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2004 at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home of Tyler, Texas. Farewell, gentle and mirthful heart, until our Reunion. You are our inspiration, ALWAYS, and we are honored to be your children.
