Lillie Ruth Hightower It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved grandmother, Lillie, on November 13th, 2024 at the age of 79. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 30th, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness with Elder Chris Welch officiating. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, whose love, wisdom, kindness, and sense of humor touched the lives of all who knew her. Born on October 8th, 1945 in Vero Beach, Florida, Lillie was the daughter of Charlie Bristol and Lula May Farloe Bristol. She lived a life full of grace, strength, and Godly devotion, raising her family with unconditional love and guiding them with a steady hand and an open heart. Lillie had a remarkable gift for making everyone around her feel special and loved, and her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to those who were fortunate enough to know her. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Charles Hightower, and her siblings; Jack, Alberta, Hazel, Charles, and James. She is survived by her children JoAnne Elam and Demetria Hightower, her siblings; Alphonso, Jean, Stanley, and Lois, sister-in-law Bobbie Chambers, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family members. Lillie leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and strength, which will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. She was a baptized pioneer with The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Lillie was also the first female truck driver with Atlas Van lines Moving & Storage in the 1960s. She and her husband owned a restaurant in California in the 1980’s called “Lillie’s Place”. She moved her family to Texas and went on to start her own packing company “Lillie’s Professional Packing Service” of Tyler Tx. She was known for her sense of humor, her gentle spirit, and her endless generosity. Whether it was through the ministry, her homemade tea cakes, her infectious laugh or her storytelling, Lillie made a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Jehovah’s Witnesses via donate.jw.org in Lillie’s memory, to support the Worldwide Work she deeply cared about. While our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort knowing that Lillie is now at peace, she was steadfast in her faith and her love of Jehovah. Her love will continue to shine brightly in the lives of her family, and she will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Lillie.
