Lyn Oneal Chamness

“Rejoice with me for I am walking and running on the streets of gold and worshipping in His glorious presence!” Lyn ran into heaven on Sunday, November 27, 2016. Services for Lyn Oneal Chamness, 48, of Tyler, will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Dr. Mark Price officiating. Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Lyn was born April 19, 1968 in Tyler, Texas to Devon and Pat Chamness and was lovingly welcomed home by his big brother Al, that day sealed a bond between the two for an eternity. Lyn was very athletic and excelled in baseball (his favorite), men’s softball and body building. After graduating from Robert E. Lee, he entered Tyler Junior College. In his sophomore year tragedy struck, Lyn was in a horrific truck accident leaving him with a traumatic brain injury and hemiplegic. Though the prognosis of his future was grim, Lyn quickly responded that he was God’s miracle and for 29 years, Lyn was a living testimony of God’s goodness and love. Lyn was a baptized, born again Christian and member of Southside Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his father, Devon Chamness and special aunt, Barbara Bray. He is survived by his loving family including his mother, Pat Chamness; brother, Al Chamness and wife Tina; uncles, Quintan Chamness and wife Billie, Hollis Bray, Jack Barrett and wife Bonnie, Bob Barrett and wife Lydia, Tom Barrett and wife Karen; nieces, Melissa Martin and husband Jacob and Megan Chamness; great-nephew, Jack Martin; Lyn is also survived by multiple cousins whom he loved and a host of friends from past school days, caregivers through the years and his church family. Pallbearers will be Brian Thedford, Donny Thedford, David Newton, Jim Fancher, Jacob Martin, and Tony Robertson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Bray and Brian Bray. Visitation is scheduled from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
