Madge Hebb

Madge Marie Hebb passed away peacefully on Jan. 27, 2010 at Azalea Trails Memory Care Unit in Tyler, Texas. She was born on a farm near Severy, Kansas on January 23, 1922, one of seven children of Horace and Edith Copeland. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ted and Bill. She received a teaching certificate at Emporia State Teachers College and taught at Lower Paw Paw School near her parent’s farm. On August 24, 1944 she was married to Adron A. Hebb in Phenix City, Alabama. They settled in Howard, Kansas and remained there for 50 years. Madge was active in community organizations including in the First Baptist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and PEO. She also served as parent leader of countless children’s clubs and projects including Cub Scouts, 4-H, Little league, Bible School and other church youth programs. She loved music and valued education, and instilled an appreciation of both in her children. She was an avid sports fan and attended countless sporting events, watching and cheering her children and grand children. Madge and Adron moved to Tyler in 1995 and Adron passed away in September, 2002. She is survived by her loving family including daughter and son-in-law Angela and Tom Drzewiecki of Redmond, WA.; three sons and daughters-in-law Joe and Letha Hebb, Bob and Kay Hebb, and Bill and Risa Hebb, all of Tyler; eight grandchildren: Kathy Drzewiecki, Mark Drzewiecki, Michelle Adler, Matt Hebb, Ayuli Hebb, Louis Hebb, Jeff Hebb, Kim Montgomery and 12 great grandchildren. Madge will also be greatly missed by her sisters, Marcia Dean, Wilma Cooley, and Virginia Coble; and brother, Doyle Copeland, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held from Friday, January 29 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Stewart Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held February 6 at the First Baptist Church in Howard, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Madge’s honor to the Alzheimer's Alliance of NE Texas, 211 Winchester Drive, Tyler, TX 75701. The family wishes to thank the staffs of Azalea Trails Assisted Living and Memory Care and Heart to Heart Hospice for their loving and generous care of Madge.
