Martha Debenport Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Martha Allsop Debenport, daughter of J.A. (Buster) and Clemmie Allsopp, passed to a new life free of Alzheimer’s on October 11, 2010. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 9:30 AM at Tyler Memorial Park, with Dr. Lewis Cobbs officiating. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM at Stewart Family Funeral Home, with a visitation preceding the service at the funeral home. Martha was born in Tyler on October 28, 1930. She graduated from Tyler High School, then attended Tyler Junior College and the Federal Institute of Business. She enjoyed her work as a personal secretary at Delta Drilling Company and for Moe Clark, an independent oil man. Martha also worked for Fair Petroleum Company for many years. Martha was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Tyler. Her life was dedicated to others, through her dedication to teaching Sunday School to teenage girls for over 40 years. She touched many young women forever. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Debenport was preceded in death by a son, Cliff Debenport. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Jerald Debenport; son, Don Debenport and wife Maggi of Chandler; and two granddaughters, Sara and Amber Debenport. Pallbearers will be Steve Davis, Bruce Burnham, Brad Roberts, Marcus Roy, Brad Sims, Donald Dudley, Bryan Penny and Larry Lumpkins. The family requests that memorials in honor of Martha Debenport be given to the Salvation Army, 633 North Broadway, Tyler, Texas 75702.
