Martha Janice Hallman Feely

It is with much love and great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Martha Hallman Feely at her home in Houston, Texas on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Born on October 12, 1932 in Tyler, Texas to the late Mildred Kennedy Hallman and Grady Lamar Hallman, Martha was a kind and loving soul who lived her life with unparalleled dedication and purpose. She was the source of constant support and encouragement to her five children and a fiercely loyal friend to many. She was an unstoppable advocate for her son, Timothy, who was born with severe developmental disabilities. Martha grew up in Tyler, Texas and graduated from John Tyler High School in 1949. She attended Tyler Junior College in 1950 then went on to the University of Texas in Austin in 1951 where she majored in English. Her life took her out of Texas where she lived in Louisiana, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Illinois before eventually making her way back home to Texas. She held many jobs over the years with her longest stint at Exxon Mobil, first in Dallas then in Houston. Her last and most favorite job was working for her dear friend, Chuck Edwards at his company, Earth Energy, where she stayed until she was in her eighties. She loved working and only stopped when Alzheimer’s Disease impacted her ability to perform to the level she expected of herself. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred K. Hallman and Grady L. Hallman, her brother, Dr. Grady Hallman and her son Timothy Feely. She is survived by her children Janice Kennedy (Pat), Lynn Cayton (Brent), Brian Feely (Sherry), Daniel Feely, and grandchildren John and Colleen Kennedy, Sarah and Abby Cayton, Jake Bovaird, Austin, Tex and Rez Feely and great-grandchildren: Lauren, Naomi, Eva, Tehya, Adelaide, Axel, Ozzy and Skye. Despite the sadness of her departure, we find comfort in knowing she was well cared for by her youngest child, Dan Feely, during her final years as she struggled with Alzheimer’s Disease. We are forever grateful for his love and unwavering dedication to our mother throughout those difficult years. Today we celebrate the life of a wonderful, sweet, incredibly dedicated, and loving person who touched the lives of so many. Her legacy will continue to inspire us. Funeral services will be held in Tyler, Texas at Stewart Family Funeral Home on Saturday March 8 at 10:00 AM followed by a graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery.
