Funeral services for Martha Ann Roy Lehnertz, 74, of Tyler will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 6th at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Officiating will be Msgr. Joseph Strickland. A private burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 6:30 on Thursday, February 5th at Stewart Family Funeral Home. A Rosary will follow. Mrs. Lehnertz was a lifelong resident of Tyler. She was born on December 13, 1934 to Bernard James Roy and Niona Louise Cornwall Roy. She was in the first graduating class of St. Gregory Junior High School in 1950 where she received the Rotary Award. In 1953 she graduated from Tyler High School where she was selected “Ideal Girl”. She attended North Texas University. In 1956 she married G. M. “Bub” Lehnertz. Mrs. Lehnertz owned and managed Young Fashions in Bergfeld Center. She was a Charter Member and Past President of the Marion Wilcox Junior Garden Club, a sustaining member of the Junior League of Tyler and a member of the Petroleum Wives. She was a lifelong member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception where she was a member of the Altar Society. Martha Ann was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She loved to travel and had a special love for the Arts, especially music and dance. While in the Junior League, she discovered her passion entertaining elementary school children through the Children’s Theater. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Lauren Faulkner and husband, Bruce of Tyler, Lanette Smith and husband Wallace of Austin; grandchildren, Campbell Lehnertz Faulkner of Omaha, Nebraska, Madison Morgan Smith of Fort Worth, Martha Lauren Smith and Noble Lehnertz Smith of Austin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bub Lehnertz, her sister Rose Marie Roy Andrus and both parents. Pallbearers will be Colonel Collin Andrus, Clay Abernathy, Mark Abernathy, Campbell Faulkner, Scott Knight, Steven Jack Mizer, Madison Smith, Noble Smith, and Joe Vernon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Phillips, Red Magner, David Traff, Court Hazelton, Dr. Dick Knarr, Dr. Chris Wrenn, Dr. Don Smith, John Regan, Jim Mazzu and Dr. Virgil Gonzales. The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Dick Knarr, Dr. Chris Wrenn, Dr. Don Smith, Nellie Marshall, Cora Tilley, Ruby Williams, Sandra Irwin, and Coylene Taylor for their care and loving support during Mrs. Lehnertz’ illness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Martha Ann Roy Lehnertz Scholarship Fund c/o the Tyler Catholic School Foundation P. O. Box 131175, Tyler, Texas.
