Services for Mary Evelyn Gabriel, 95, of Keller formerly of Tyler will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Park Robertson officiating. A private burial will be held at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Tyler, Texas under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Gabriel passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in Keller surrounded by family. She was born December 2, 1928, in Tyler to the late Gregory and Freda Wansley. She graduated from Tyler High School May of 1946. Mary was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, until her family started to grow and then she put all her effort and love into raising her children, something she truly enjoyed and loved. Mary was a very caring lady who loved all her friends and greatly enjoyed visiting with both old and new ones. Her children and grandchildren were her favorite topics. She was preceded in death by: her parents Gregory and Freda Wansley, husband Leroy Gabriel, great-granddaughter Preslee Rene Blakeney, sister Edith Dolberry and brother Harrel Wansley. She is survived by her loving family including, son, Brian and Gloria Gabriel of Tyler; two daughters, Celeste and Bob Gary of Coppell, Karol and David Smith of Keller; four grandchildren, Courtney and Aaron Blakeney of Cypress, Rebekah and Keith Oberg of Midland, Logan and Bre Gary of Fond du Lac, WI., Lauren Gary of Dallas; one great-granddaughter, Hadley Oberg of Midland, two great-grandsons, Brooks Oberg of Midland and Brody Blakeney of Cypress; and numerous nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Gabriel, Bob Gary, David Smith, Logan Gary, Aaron Blakeney, Keith Oberg, Phillip Wansley, Mike Mayfield and Mark Gehrlein. Visitation is scheduled from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful people at Harmony Cares Hospice of Irving, with special thanks to Sharla, Catherine, and Ivy for their tender care and love. If desired, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
