Mary Alice Warren

Mary Alice Warren was born August 15, 1921, the youngest, and last surviving of the eight children of T.E. & Myrtie Lee Cooper of Waco. She passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012, in Tyler, Texas, at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ervin Warren, and is survived by their three children, Ken Warren and his wife Jaime, of Tyler, TX; Bob Warren and his wife Linda, of Westcliffe, CO; and daughter Cathy Warren, of Arlington, TX; four grandchildren, Dr. Alison Considine and her husband Liam, of Cheshire, CT, Mark Warren and his wife San San Chow, of Seattle, WA, and Scott and David Green, of Westcliffe, CO; and two great grandchildren, Timmy and Maggie Considine, of Cheshire, CT. Mary Alice, also lovingly known most of her life as Fiery, served as a nurse in the U.S. Army during World War II, achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant in the European Theater of Operations on assignment in England and France. Upon returning home to Waco after the war, to her then-new husband, and subsequently their three children, she served for a short time as R.N. at Hillcrest Hospital, but found her true calling as School Nurse for the Waco Independent School District in 1958. She served in that role until retirement. Mary Alice was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Waco, and continued to be a near-life-time member of Calvary even after moving to Tyler several years ago. Friends and extended family are encouraged to join the immediate family for a graveside service on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas, under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home of Tyler, with Dr. Randy Lofgren of Baylor University presiding. Before her death Mary Alice expressed a desire that no flowers be sent in her memory, but that those who might wish to honor her memory consider doing so in the form of a memorial gift to The Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701 or to Calvary Baptist Church of Waco, 1001 N. 18th A Street, Waco, Texas 76707.
