Maudie Woodward Boyd

Services for Maudie Woodward Boyd, 54, of Tyler/New York, Texas, will be held on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Green Acres Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. David O. Dykes, Rev. Tim Roberts and Rev. Buddy Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Boyd passed away August 4, 2013 in Tyler. She was born in New Haven, CT on December 31, 1958. Maudie was raised in Dallas and then graduated from SFA in Nacogdoches where she majored in English and also studied criminal justice. She married R. Craig Boyd and they moved to Tyler in 1984 where she assisted her husband with his law career. Maudie was a member of the Junior League of Tyler for over a decade and became their accountant. She studied martial arts and became a 2nd degree black belt. Maudie was a member of GABC and was a director of her Sunday school class, Nichols, Gohmert, Geese. She loved the Lord and enjoyed contemporary Christian music. A loving mother, Maudie cherished time doing things for her children and making sure everyone involved felt special. She and her husband also enjoyed their time simply spent together and traveling, especially to the mountains of Colorado. Maudie was preceded in death by her father Thomas Edward Woodward and her father-in-law Terrell Boyd. She is survived by her loving family including her husband of 30 years, Craig Boyd of Tyler/New York; children, Courtney Alison Boyd and Jordan Craig Boyd, both of Tyler; mother, Dulany Woodward; mother-in-law, Dorothy Boyd; siblings, Dawson Woodward, Thomas Edward Woodward, II, Gardner R. Woodward, and Wendy Woodward; and brothers-in-law, Alan R. Boyd and Dr. Gary Boyd. Pallbearers will be Tom Lorren, Warren Goodwin, Jeff Geese, Rick Jett, Braydon Gold, Edwin R. Peck, Steven Euler, Cole Boutwell and Steve Stinson. Honorary pallbearers will be the gentlemen of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity of the University of Texas at Arlington, the men of her GABC Sunday School Class and the Honorable Louie Gohmert. Visitation is scheduled from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
