Melonye Ann Grant

Services for Melonye Ann Grant, 54, of Tyler, will be held on Monday, April 18, 2016, at 2:30 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Gage and Rev. Robert Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Grant died peacefully Thursday, April 14, 2016 at her home in Tyler surrounded by her loving family. Melonye was born August 1, 1961 in Tyler to Robert Allen, Sr. and Velaree Harris Deaton. She attended Moore Middle School and graduated from John Tyler High School. She also studied under Utah Grounds in the drama department and performed at the Tyler Civic Theater. Melonye has been the owner of Dance Your Dreams Studio for 20 years and taught dancing lessons at Tyler Junior College for several years. She danced with RAKSZ productions and had a part in the movie “My Mom’s New Boyfriend”. Melonye loved her children and grandchildren and the time that she spent with them. She also enjoyed gardening and travel and spending “quiet time” with her husband Robert. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Robert Allen Grant, Sr.; grandson, Noah Ray Stone; brother-in-law, Doug Grant and step-father, Jimmie Ellis. Melonye is survived by her loving family including her husband of 24 years, Robert Allen Grant; sons; Jeremy Stone and wife Amanda of Tyler, Adam Stone and wife Chelsea Lynn Honeycutt of Tyler, Sgt. Daniel Robert Grant, U.S. Army ; mother, Velaree Deaton Ellis of Tyler; mother-n-law, Esther Mae Grant of Flint; sister, Anita Scurlock and husband Stephen of Lindale; brother and sister-n-law, Robert Deaton and wife Sheri of Whitehouse; brothers-in-law, Garry Grant and wife Laura of Tyler, Greg Grant and wife Diana of Houston; sister-in-law, Cynthia R. Grant of Shreveport, Louisiana; grandchildren, Dalen Stone, Robert Stone, Aliana Stone, C.J. Stone, Jaxon Kyler Stone and Coraline Stone; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jared Stewart, John Stewart, Jordan Stewart, Bayley Deaton, Jeremy Stone, Adam Stone and Daniel Robert Grant. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Stewart and Dalen Stone. Visitation is scheduled from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
