Mildred McMinn

A graveside service for Mildred “Millie” McMinn, 90, of Tyler, will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010, at 3:00 PM at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery with Dr. Darryle Dunks officiating under the directions of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mrs. McMinn passed away peacefully with family at her side, Thursday, January 21, 2010 in Tyler, under the care of Legacy Hospice. Millie was born May 15, 1919 in Brady to the late William Nathan and Lou Belle Sansom Roberts. In 1935 she moved with her family to Dallas, where she lived for 50 years. She graduated from Sunset High School in 1936 and later attended Southern Methodist University. She married Bryant Marsh McMinn, Jr. in 1941. They raised two sons in Kessler Park, where Millie was a second mother to many neighborhood kids. Both Millie and Bryant were long time members of Kessler Park Baptist Church and later at First Baptist Church of Dallas. They moved to Tyler in 1986 upon the retirement of her husband from Gifford Hill & Co. Millie was a homemaker and loving mother as well as a truly sweet soul. Millie was currently a member of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler and will be greatly missed by those who knew her. Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Bryant and her brother, Harold Roberts of Ft. Worth. She is survived by her loving family including sons, Steve McMinn and wife Karen of Waco, and Bill McMinn of Tyler; grandson, Stephen McMinn, Jr. and wife Janeene of Waco; and great-grandson Eric Stephen McMinn. She is also survived by several nephews and nieces. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 22, 2010 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy, Tyler, Texas 75703.
