Nancy Jean-Nelson Countryman

Our loving mother, and grandmother passed away Monday, October 20, 2015 in Tyler after 83 years of living and loving life, her husband and family. Nancy was married for 59 years to Millard Countryman, who predeceased her in 2013. She was born in Rockford, Illinois to Hilding Franklin Nelson and Genevieve Gilbert Nelson, and their family gave us the sock monkey through the Nelson Knitting Company of which she was always very proud. Nancy was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and she loved her Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Theta lips are smiling mom. Nancy was also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Nancy loved selling real estate for many years in Houston and Tyler, and with her husband, Millard, they were ‘Spouses Selling Houses’ for many years in Tyler. She has several beautiful and caring friends, especially with Re/Max of Tyler and we are grateful for their support and help throughout her battle with cancer. She also loved playing tennis and with her husband made several great friends in the tennis community. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Nancy Countryman Collings and husband David of Tyler, Cam and Adele Countryman of Houston, Randy and Lori Countryman of Fenton, MO. and Clay and Shannon Countryman of Baton Rouge, LA; 9 grandchildren, Kyle Countryman and his wife Leslie, Kevin Countryman and his wife Nicole, Casey Collings, Brady Collings, Alex Countryman List and her husband Mark, Kelsey Countryman Tennesen and her husband Craig, Kate Countryman, Betsy Countryman, and Molly Countryman and 7 great-grandchildren, Mason Countryman, Brice Countryman, Reed Countryman, Anders Countryman, Lily Countryman, Ella Countryman, and Miller List. The family is grateful for the caregivers who cared for and loved our mother, especially Mariama Darboe who was a devoted nurse, friend and extended part of our family. Nancy is also a proud member of Christ Episcopal Church in Tyler. Nancy was a wonderful and loving spouse, mother and added so much to our lives. We love you mom and know you are home. Services will be held on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Christ Episcopal Church in Tyler with Rev. Matthew Boulter officiating, under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Tyler. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy in Tyler.
