Nancy Rossi

On June 14th, Nancy Joan Wenthur Rossi entered into the heavenly life she had joyously anticipated for so many years. She is now truly able to sit at the feet of her beloved Savior and Lord Jesus Christ and perfectly serve Him throughout eternity. Her dearly loved family was unquestionably the next greatest blessing of her earthly life and she never ceased viewing her role of wife and mother as a wondrous God-given privilege. She was born July 11, 1932, to Emil Ernst Wenthur and the former Charlotte Martha Oster in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She moved to California in her 20’s. An aspiring jazz singer, she worked at Decca Records as executive secretary to Otto Perry when the company was under the management of musical legend Johnny Mercer. She married Owen Kane Rossi on July 20, 1959. The family moved to Tyler in 1978, where she has since resided. Nancy had an all consuming love for the Lord Jesus Christ and God’s precious Holy Word, and sharing God’s grace and her testimony of an anointed Holy Spirit filled life were her passion and mission, along with a fervent ministry of intercessory prayer. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 46 years, Owen Kane Rossi (November 17, 1925-May 18, 2005); her parents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and cousin Eleanor Klak, with whom she was very close. Survivors include brother and sister-in-law, Pierce and Idell Wenthur, Santa Barbara, California; Daughters, Denise Suzanne Harrington, Tyler, and Leanne Elise Layne, Winslow, Arizona; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda Christine and David Smith, Tyler; stepson and daughter-in-law, Richard and Mae Rossi, Crowley, Texas; step-grandson, Daniel Rossi; grandchildren, great grandchildren and cousins. Visitation is Thursday, 6:00-8:00 PM, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, Tyler, with Rev. Les Rhea officiating. A memorial service will be held Friday at 10:00 AM at Vanderbilt Baptist Church, Tyler. Burial will be in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bible for Today Baptist Church, 900 Park Ave., Collingswood, NJ, 08108.
