Patricia Ann Farrington

A memorial service celebrating the life of Patricia (Pat) Farrington, age 86, will take place at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Marvin United Methodist Church. The service will be conducted by Dr. Doug Baker, and assisted by Reverend Gerry Giles. A private burial service will be held before the service under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Pat passed away on March 10, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Walter Farrington, and also by her daughter, Cynthia Farrington. Pat was born October 22, 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Forrest and Maurine Hower. She attended the University of Tulsa where she studied business, and met and fell in love with Walter. They married in 1952 and moved shortly thereafter to Shreveport, Louisiana. Walter’s business took them next to Lubbock, Texas, and then later to Tyler, in 1956. Pat’s civic activities included her service and memberships in the Women’s Symphony League, Tyler Junior League, Marion Wilcox Junior Garden Club, Tyler Rose Festival, Republican Women’s Club, Tyler Civic Theater, and Willow Brook Country Club. She attended Marvin United Methodist Church where she was an active member in the Pairs and Parents Class and Prayer Warriors at Marvin. Pat will be remembered for her lively spirit and sense of humor, and her loyal commitment to her family and friends. She is survived by her three children: Walter L. Farrington, III and wife, Sara of Dallas, Texas, Teresa M. Starkes and husband Edward of Tyler, Texas, and Ann Dickie and husband Carson, of Fredericksburg, Texas; seven grandchildren, Brynn Bowyer and husband Tom, of Fredericksburg, Texas, Cori Dickie of Dallas, Texas, Jess Dickie of Austin, Texas, Edward Starkes of Tyler, Texas, Walter Starkes of Tyler, Texas, Walter L. Farrington, IV, of Dallas, Texas and Bette Farrington of Dallas, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Piper Bowyer, Finley Bowyer and Rowan Bowyer, all of Fredericksburg, Texas. Friends are invited to attend a reception with the family following the service in Pirtle Hall at Marvin United Methodist Church.
