Robert "Bob" Gardner

Services for Robert “Bob” Eugene Gardner, 79, of Tyler, will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David Dykes officiating. Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, July 7, 2017, the day before the funeral, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler. Mr. Gardner passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in Tyler. He was born October 5, 1937 in Winters, Texas to Bernice T. “BT” and Marie Lambert Gardner. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960 and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin in 1965 with an electrical engineering degree. Bob was an electrical engineer for 53 years, and he was the owner and president of R.E. Gardner Engineering, Inc. for 34 years, from June 23, 1975 to December 4, 2009. He has been a faithful member of Green Acres Baptist Church since 1969, and he served as a deacon for 40 years. Bob was also instrumental in numerous building programs at the church. Bob was a member of the Rose City Kiwanis Club of Tyler, and he served as president of the chapter from 1991 to 1992. Preceded in death by his parents, Bob is survived by his loving family, including his beloved wife of 58 years, Sandra “Sandy” Fulton Gardner; daughter, Melinda Gardner Weedon and her husband Kyle of Tyler; son, Ryan T. Gardner and wife Amy of Bullard; grandchildren, Meredith Weedon Ashton and husband William, Daniel Weedon, Brandon Gardner and Travis Gardner. As the patriarchal cornerstone of his family, Bob was a devoted husband and father. He showed his children and grandchildren how a strong and loving Christian man lived, and he will be greatly missed by his family. Pallbearers will be Dennis Rodgers, Tom Arrington, Homer Flanagan, Craig Goodroe, Daniel Weedon, Travis Gardner and Brandon Gardner.
